Boppa's Cabin Rental

Boppa once said we're all welcome to use the cabin (though you may be spending vacation with him), but we have to help with yard work.
Gram's note: Does this child really look only 2 1/2 yrs old? She fits perfectly, right down to her feet on the floor.

Here I am outside the boathouse. I was probably just inside helping to clean fish... feed Sunnie... or whatever chores needed to be done!

Beach Time In Canada

The weather started out warm and sunny, but got cloudy and cool again real fast. Still, we found time to play on Grandma's beach. Auntie Sherry says I'm a typical two-year- old at the beach: go down in shorts and t-shirt, splash and wade then start getting everyone else wet, douse yourself in bucket of water, strip naked in about 63 degree weather, put on floating swimsuit but still afraid of the deeper water, but stick face in the shallows, freezing cold but don't get out, get a leech on foot and freak out, wrapped in towels and taken to shower with grandma!! Another successful swimming day.

Grandma & Boppa's Note

We were trying to make breakfast, and all of a sudden, she says, "Gra-a-m-ma". We turned around & there she was peeking through the window. We kept working on breakfast, and she comes sliding through the window on her belly down onto the couch. She thought that was just a hoot! We reminded her to be careful, and soon she was back in the porch on the chair.
She posed so perfectly with her fist holding her chin up and her head cocked to the side, that I told Boppa to take a picture... she kept saying "cheese" but it took Boppa a little time to get out the camera. She got bored, and was off again crawling through.

She's eating like a little horse, take 2-3 hr naps, and sleeping hard at night. She's working her little buns off in the day time. "Let's go here, let's go there, play this....." Man what a bundle of energy. Gimme somma that!

More Canada Action -- Egli's

It was great fun to go see all the animals again. The elk were in velvet, we saw lots of babies, plus two turkeys and a peacock fanned just for me.
Of course I stopped to see my old buddy, Wilbur pig, but again spent most of my time with the goats, Two cute playful kids kept jumping up and down, running and butting heads, climbing into feeders, and eating grass from my fingers.

Aren't they adorable?!? Usually I save that word for me or Delaney, but these goats definitely qualify!
The swans are pretty, but look at those clouds.
We did make time so I could visit the play area for sliding and swinging. I hope we come back again when Mom & Daddy are here.

Wish You Were Here!

Hi Mommy & Daddy.

Even if it is a bit cool and damp, I'm having fun at Grandma & Boppa's cabin.
I asked Grandma to get the camera while I sat on the rock so I could send a picture of me to Mommy and Daddy.

Love,
Maddie

P.S. They still have my favorite soccer ball, and I still love to boot it!

Her Face At First Just Ghostly...

Daddy thought the floating-head-on-white-background quality of this photo might cause delay to my passport, but it went through just fine. Now I'm legal to go to Canada! Today I rode up to Boppa & Grandma's cabin with Auntie Sherry. Aunt Dan was supposed to be with us, but he got sick. Then Mom & Delaney were going to come so Sherry didn't have to deal with me and a dog by herself. In the end, Sherry decided we could have a fun roadtrip, just the two of us.
We had a great time singing our Cinderella song, having snacks, and laughing. When we stopped for lunch at the Little Fork, we got to eat with a 96-year-old local man! Crossing the border was no big deal -- I forgot to yell, "Help this strange lady grabbed me off the street and strapped me in her car!" like Mom & I practiced. I had a teeny nap during the last leg of the drive, but had plenty of energy to play with all my toys and hit the water (clothes, shoes, and all) as soon as we got to the cabin.
I'm looking forward to a great week -- my Mickey pole, Diego life jacket, Boppa hat, and puddle boots are ready for some exciting muskie action! Maybe Boppa & I can stay up here all summer.

Summer Fun With My Cousins

Daniel brought his family minus Morgan (we missed her) to stay with us last week. We had big plans for a week of boating, swimming, and being just across the yard from one another. Well, we got beach time in the first day...then fall hit, so we had to wear sweatshirts and find other things to do. On Wednesday, Uncle John wanted to go to Pequot...and it happened to be Bean Hole Days. We didn't taste any beans, but I did get my first sno-cone. When we went to Nisswa for pizza, we realized it was Turtle Race day. We didn't enter, but enjoyed seeing all the turtles. Last we heard, they were calling for entrants in the 400s to line up!

We did get to ride the dime horsey, though. I felt like I was in a parade!
Daniel's turn.
We went to see the ox again, and I got a ride there too.
Gunnar seems to be the only one wanting his picture taken.
We went to the Chocolate Ox for a treat. When someone mentioned ice cream, I expected to hit the DQ, but I'm not complaining!
Daddy went for two scoops, but Gunnar was even braver with three. My one was was hard enough to handle.
Daddy had to go back to work, and everyone else went to the new Harry Potter movie, so Thursday, Daniel & I hung out Mom & Delaney...and my Scooby-Doo Meets Batman DVD. We had a tasty snack of 'Rogurt (I always pick the one with Velma) and strawberries.
I got sick in the middle of the night -- Daddy says too many Chicken in a Biscuit crackers, but Mom blames the blue juice. I had to take it easy Friday, while everyone else went to Crosslake.
And then came the dreaded Saturday morning when they had to head back to the Cities. The cabin is all quiet again. Mom & I don't like that. Maybe someone can come stay there again before the end of summer...

Happy Birthday, Sher Bear!!

Lordy, Lordy, it's Auntie Sherry's birthday! She's pretty special in my world. Without her and her Share Bear, I would never know the Care Bears and do mya great Grumpy Bear impression. Maybe we can watch the Care Bears show together next time you're here. Then I could see the real Share Bear and my Sher Bear at the same time!

Fourth of July Fun

The weekend of the 4th was very long, but lots of fun! I'm finally recovered enough to share the details...
THURSDAY

Here's my cousin Daniel getting help from Cat in the Hat to get the water going at Grandma Mary's.
My big cousin Gunnar came along to save the day. He gave us lots of water to stomp in; what a great guy! Too bad I forgot my puddle boots...not that it kept me from splashing.
I even got to spend the night at Grandma's with Daniel.

FRIDAY

We played at Grandma Mary's all afternoon and evening because Daddy was smoking ribs (YUMMY) for tomorrow's festivities. Daddy & his right hand man, Gunnar were at the smoker keeping an eye on the temperature and shuffling ribs around. They did take a break to help with the bonfire. No wonder I'm such a pyro...it's in my genes.
We chased bubbles as long as Uncle Brian would let us! We'd have gone longer, but we couldn't use up all the bubble liquid before the other kids came.
Look, we sat still...long enough for Mom to take our picture. Then it was off again!

SATURDAY

Here we are: Daniel, Delaney, and me all dressed in our patriotic gear. Before it was over, each of us would have on new clothes! That's why we did the pictures early.

Going for the dizzy feel in my dancing dress. I love to twirl!

All my weight training has paid off...good thing, we needed more bubbles to keep that wand going. My (third)cousin, Kaylee was better with that bubble wand than Uncle Brian.
More bubble fun with CC, another (third) cousin.

Daniel, Kaylee, and I took turns so everyone got a chance to push. We were very good at sharing and playing nicely together. On Uncle Brian's motorcycle. I think I look great up there!

Our group shot (thanks, Carolyn), and only a few of the 42 people there didn't get in the photo.

My end of the day mug shot: you can see black cake, dirt, powdered sugar, BBQ sauce, and who knows what else on my face. The markings of a great time!

I Feel Pretty...

Because I was here taking good care of their dog, Kiana, while they were off in Jamaica getting married, Pat & Lisa gave me this nice outfit.

I've been staring at it since March, and one day I decided to wear it even though the weather was a bit cold. Mom didn't mind, though she did make me cover it with sweatpants and a shirt when we went outside.

I felt so pretty I had to dance in front of the mirror!

Kissy faces for my pretty clothes. Some days I want to wear camo, and some days I'm all girl. Just another way I'm like my mom.

It's Grandma Gina's Birthday!

Happy birthday, Grandma. I'm taking extra good care of your flowers for you, just like you take extra good care of me!
The special square ice cream bucket you gave me is my favorite!
Maybe next time you go to Canada, I can go with you. Hope your day is wonderful, a trip for DQ shakes is planned for later this week! I'd say just the two of us, but you know how everyone else likes to tag along...

Which Princess Are You?

Another of my favorite hobbies is doing puzzles. Mom says I am quite the expert. Lately, I've been doing so well with the puzzles recommended for 3+ years, Mom says she'll get me some even bigger ones.
Last time I put my Disney princess puzzle together, Mom asked me which princess I liked the best. It didn't shock her when I said Sleeping Beauty and the best of her names is Brier Rose. The rest of what I said made her smile though. It went something like this..."Maddie is Sleeping Beauty. Mommy is mermaid, Ariel. And Daddy is Cinderella, and Daniel is Snow White, and Belle is... is... is... Uncle John."
