the BIG adventures of a little girl...

WELCOME to the world of Madeleine Mary, a charming little princess with a neverending smile, bright blue eyes, and an insatiable curiosity that keeps her parents constantly on their toes.

"Grown-ups never understand anything for themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them." - Antoine De Saint Exupery

A Few of My Favorite Things

This was the best afternoon! When Daddy came home, Mom & I went outside to play, just the two of us -- I love that! It was such a nice, sunny day. Plus, I had on my favorite camo shorts, super fast new tennis shoes, and and the cool bubble gun Mom got for me. I can make tons of bubbles with this...much better than the traditional wands. Ain't life grand?!?

Care Bears

I'm a big Care Bears fan, especially after playing with Auntie Sherry's Share Bear. Now I've gotten a bunch of Care Bears stuff from her and Mom and I have watched the show on Sunday morning. I'm learning who they all are, and so far my favorite one is....

GRUMPY BEAR!

New Friends, Old Friends

Today Mom and I went to the park to see her old friend (Mom's note: Not that we're old, just known each other for 30 years!), Jenny, and her daughter, Kaia. Kaia is 4 and lots of fun. We went on the slide, swings, eagle's nest, and other various playground equipment...all while our mothers talked and watched us with happy smiles.

I said Kaia's name several times before we saw them, and even called her by it a few times. Soon, I started calling her Kiana, then switched to/stuck with Anna. I'd show you a picture of Kaia, but she didn't feel like having her picture taken just then. Mom should have pulled out her camera before we started getting tired. We did get one of me with Jenny.

Mom & Jenny haven't seen each other for too long because Jenny lives a few states away, and Mom & Daddy haven't made their annual trek out that way since the year before I came on the scene. When Delaney gets bigger, Mom says we're definitely going out for a vacation. I even have a special book to learn all about the area. I think I need to go make sure Delaney is drinking her milk so she can hurry up and get bigger really soon!

More Memorial Day Stories

Usually Mom brings tulips for Memorial Day, but they weren't quite open this year. We decided to bring some lilacs instead. Mom carried some, and I had one of my own. At first I was very upset when I noticed Mom set hers down. I held mine for all of the service.
At the end I thought it would be okay to leave my flowers too.

I Made the Newspaper!

On Memorial Day, we drove over to Grandpa Corky's cemetery for the services and to hear his name during the roll call of veterans. While we were there, the newspaper photographer asked Grandma Ruth if she could take the family's picture at his grave. This is me with my cousins, Ellen, Anna, and Kjera; plus Aunt Su & Jon; and of course, Daddy, Mom, and Grandma Ruth.
I wish the rest of the family could have been there too, but we still made a nice looking group, didn't we?

Out For a Stroll

Here we are, baby sister (under the blanket) and big sister, out for a walk on a nice spring day. It was a bit cool, but who cares...we were outside?!? Delaney didn't stay out long because she needed to eat.
Daddy & I stayed out for a long time. I played with my flowers (Mom picked them for me during our walk), dug in the sand, found my Dora/Diego chairs, and just had fun out there. If only every day could be like that one. Well, my sister needs to get a little bigger so she can play with me, and would be nice if Mom was with us too... otherwise it was a perfect day!

Fly, Dumbo, Fly

It's no secret I love Dumbo. Now Mom & Daddy let me ride this Dumbo whenever I behave while we're running errands.

As hard as it is to stay in the cart and not pull things off shelves, I really want to ride Dumbo, so I do my best. Sitting on Dumbo's back yelling, "Fly, Baby Dumbo, fly!" is so worth it. Mom & Daddy are pleased with it too. They just have to make sure they keep two quarters with them so I can get my ride.

To Mom, my grandmas, great-Gommie, and all the mothers in my life... Happy Mother's Day!

You are all appreciated!

One of My Favorite Songs

I just love singing "The Name Song" (in my own variations...sometimes "Bo Baddie Mommy"or "Bee Bop Shadow") and using everything I see. Once I made Mom sing it using shower, window, towel, potty (guess where I was sitting that day!). On Easter, I sang it at the table using the names of all the people around me. Aunt Dan got a little of it on video; you can see by Auntie Sherry's face I had been singing for a while...

Fun Ride!

Aunt Dan has been using Boppa's four-wheeler for the last few days, and every time he comes and goes from Grandma and Boppa's house, I love to imitate the sounds of the big machine. Yesterday, I finally got to ride on it. It was lots of fun, but I couldn't be bothered to look at the camera since there were some gadgets in front of me.

Quick update on my baby sister...she's eating well, gaining weight, and spending lots of time awake. Mom thinks she still sleeps too long sometimes, but things are going well. If you haven't seen it yet (we hid the link on the lower left side of my blog a few months ago), she does have her own blog now: http://delaneysfloatingdreams.blogspot.com/
