Mom got her first deer today. She was just about to work (guess she shouldn't have gone the back way), and the deer came flying at her. She said it was running so fast it looked like a greyhound. All she really saw was a head and neck before it was right in front of the buggy buggy. She thought it only caught the front corner, but do you really think she did something halfway? She got to work and looked at the front end; the deer hit right in the middle. The pictures do not do justice to Mom's talent, especially not with the hood up. When she first saw it, the hood had a some crumpling, the grill was broken, and there was a lot of hair.
She survived just fine. Apparently she jammed the brakes pretty hard; her right ankle and knee are a little sore. Her right arm, hand, and shoulder are feeling some pain too. Mom was mostly just mad that she bungled up the buggy buggy, but when she and Daddo were driving last night, she kept a good watch to make help make sure he saw any deer that may have been out.
To answer the basic questions: Of course she had her seatbelt on, at most she was driving about 50 (in the 50-MPH zone), the deer was running as fast as it could, and the condition of the Jeep will tell you the condition of the deer.
And my lazy parents will finally get more pictures of me up this weekend, including a special message for my Uncle John...I didn't forget you...the slackers just haven't gotten my picture off the camera yet!
